What to expect when you bring the military into your family. Unedited post. Bare with me.On October 22, 2017 by Chelsianne
So it happened.
Your brother-sister-mother-husband-wife, they decided the military life is for them.
Guess what, now it is for you too. Period. Whether you like it or not, it’s your reality. If you love them and chose for better or worse it’s now your job to support them.
You can hide from it or you can get educated, and that’s exactly what I did.
Before my hubby was my hubby, he was just an old high school friend who was going into the army. It didn’t effect me so I didn’t know what that meant. Little did I know how he would leave and take part of my heart with him.
As him and I became serious he was in basic training and I knew I needed to learn more about the military. They’re a lot of research forums out there.
- military SOS websites
- military wife life etc.
These are only a few off the top of my head.
I learned that everybody is just trying to understand how this giant thing works.
It’s a lot of hurry up … now wait … go to this office … and wait.
I am only a year in to this life and I can tell you the more questions that I answer the more questions that I find.
- what papers do I need to live on base
- Do I need shots to live overseas
- What is the military passport
- Where do I get my military ID
- Where can I shop on base ex: can I go on to any military base army Marines Air Force?
As you can see when you dig for one answer you open up a can of worms that you just were not expecting … at least I do.
I am a researcher, and if you look at my blog you know that I want to know what makes up my food.
I want to know if there something not real in my food, and you can damn sure know that I want to know that the love of my life is safe and that he is taken care of until I can be with him.
Back to military paperwork. Ugh.
Now imagine the research I do on food for you guys and myself and magnify that by 1 million because that is how much I love this man. I went through every single Avenue to find numbers, addresses, emails, faxes anything to make sure that I was prepared for all of this, and in the end I still wasn’t. But I have gained a lot of resources and I want to share this with you because military life is hard enough and finding the right document that should be the least of your worries.
If you have any questions do reach out. I’m here to help, always. 🙂
But hey we travel right!?
I’m currently in Korea with the hubby and it’s been amazing.
Check it out.
Exhausted from a 14 hour hike yesterday. Sorry for the lack of punctuation I was using talk to text.
I’ve been dying to share with you guys.
